If you were speed-dating and wanted to choose a song to represent yourself to your potential future date, what track would you choose?

I would use this song :D

Although possibly that would be my outro, and one of the many versions of this track would be my intro!

That second track has quite an interesting background, which you can read here on Wikipedia. I'm certain I first heard it in one of its Looney Tunes incarnations.

I also love that I was able to successfully Google that second track within two searches. The successful  keywords were "assembly line music". I'd never known what the track was called until today.

Hee. This is a fun question. *pokes at music collection* *realises all my favourite songs are all dark and pretentious and violent and mostly about breakups* Hahaha, ok, after some thought I think this sums up what I'd feel like saying to anyone who was thinking about dating me :D

(This is my second choice)

Ooh, I love the video for the first clip - the semi disorienting jump cuts and disjointed slide-effects, vaseline-y looking smudge on the camera lens in the middle part... really work with the song! [/film student] Love the faces she pulls here.

Interesting choice :P

I'd never seen the clip for the second song before! That was cute :D

Yes! I liked the song for years before seeing the clip, and was happily surprised by it.

This is a difficult question!

I like lots of music, but I'm not sure that I'd consider any particular piece of it representative of me.

Perhaps something science-related and fun? This one is good, and so is this one. Would I be allowed to bring the videos as well as the songs? :-)

The Antikythera Mechanism from the BT album you sent me a while ago might be a good choice. It's an interesting piece of music in its own right, with lots of different stuff happening; and the fact that it takes its name from a piece of amazing ancient technology adds an extra layer of interest. I think that the end part really does convey an impression of an ancient mechanism.

I could choose an old hymn; one of the classic ones that sounds really fantastic when sung by a congregation who know what they're doing. Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah or And Can It Be, perhaps. If the person whom I were speed-dating were put off by this, it'd be an indication that there's no chance of a relationship.

This one.

Or, to be slightly more confusing, this.

I think I'd just try to screw with their heads totally and have Girl Talk's Feed The Animals playing at random parts.

About a decade ago, Cartoon Network released a CD of various cartoon-related songs, titled "Cartoon Medley". If memory serves, it had both a short and long version of "Powerhouse" on it.
